In March 15-18 2012, Sundance Institute’s Documentary Film Program lead the second time Institute workshop for independent Chinese documentary filmmakers. Co-hosted with CNEX, this programme brought together 10 projects from several regions in China to work with a group of international advisors on story and structure. More than 93 Chinese filmmakers applied for this gathering, to best address the needs of these filmmakers in this three-day forum.
Founded in 1981 by actor Robert Redford, Sundance Film Festival (SDFF) is an annual festival held at its headquarters in Utah, USA, and is an important voice for independent filmmaking around the world. The Sundance Film Festival Society’s Documentary Film Programme (DFP) is dedicated to supporting documentary filmmakers around the world to produce documentary films that reflect contemporary issues, especially human interest. Through this work, the DFP encourages artists to exchange ideas that are key to building a more open society.
